BMW has launched the high-performance M4 CS (Competition Sport) in India. The new M4 CS sedan is priced at Rs 189 crore (ex-showroom), making it around Rs 36 lakh more expensive than the M4 Comparison, which currently retails at Rs 15.3 crore (ex-showroom). The model features a host of mechanical tweaks, as well as improved aerodynamics, lightweight materials and advanced technology for better speed and handling.
Powering the BMW M4 CS is the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine as the M4 Comparison. However, increased turbocharger pressure and improvements to the cooling system free up an additional 20 horsepower, bringing power output to 542 horsepower. Torque figures remain at 650Nm; however, the M4 C4 revs higher than the M4 Competition in the top end of the rev range (220 rpm more), keeping revs between 2,750 rpm and 5,950 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and is powered via BMW M’s dedicated xDrive all-wheel drive system, which is standard.

BMW M4 CS: weight-saving measures
The improved powertrain allows the M4 CS to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the M4 Competition. The electronically controlled top speed is 303 km/h. BMW’s Adaptive M suspension is standard here. The car rides on lighter alloy wheels than the M4 Competition – 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. Other weight-saving measures include carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) parts (such as the center console with red CS lettering) and carbon fiber parts (racing seats and roof).
BMW M4 CS: Interior
Inside, BMW’s minimalist design philosophy is combined with racing-inspired components. The seats are lightweight M Carbon bucket seats with unique CS badging. There’s a three-spoke flat-bottom Alcantara M steering wheel; a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system running the latest OS 8.5; and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other M-specific components include M seat belts, an M Mode button on the center console and M Traction Control.
BMW M4 CS: Appearance
Compared with the M4 Competition, the M4 CS has a wider kidney grille, more angular lines and yellow-inlaid headlights. The rear is equally distinctive, with M-specific design cues and strong lines that underline its performance-oriented character.
