“By the end of 2026, no more components from Huawei or ZTE will be used.”

German mobile network operators have agreed to phase out “critical components” produced by Chinese telecom giants Huawei and ZTE in their 5G core networks by the end of 2026, the German government has announced.

“We have looked very carefully at the risks posed by key components from Huawei and ZTE to Germany’s 5G mobile networks,” said German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, explaining that “clear and strict agreements” had been reached with Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone and Telefonica.
