Cadillac launches $5,000 shoes inspired by its electric cars

  • Cadillac has unveiled four sets of shoes inspired by its electric vehicles.
  • The $5,000 sneaker combines elements of the Celestiq, Lyriq, Optiq, and Escalade IQ.
  • Only 20 pairs will be available and will be on sale starting September 8th.

Car manufacturers love to put their logos on clothing and charge top dollar for it, but would you spend $5,000 on a pair of Cadillac shoes? Probably not, but these aren’t your average shoes.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){ adpushup.triggerAd(“4d84e4c9 -9937-4f84-82c0-c94544ee6f2a”); } else{ adpushup.triggerAd(“6a782b01-facb-45f3-a88f-ddf1b1f97657”); } });

Cadillac worked with designer Dominic Ciambrone and his Surgeon team to develop four models inspired by the Celestiq, Lyriq, Optiq and Escalade IQ.

While it sounds like a marketing gimmick, the automaker says that “the Surgeon team worked face-to-face with Cadillac designers and craftsmen at the GM Design Center in Warren, Michigan.” This close collaboration ultimately resulted in a shoe that incorporates elements of its namesake car. Cadillac didn’t reveal many details, but mentioned the same “interior leather and trim patterns, textiles and stitching techniques, as well as interior and exterior paint colors and design cues.”

The resulting design is bright and colorful, but it may not appeal to everyone. If you’re interested, though, you can grab a pair on September 8. They’ll be available exclusively on CadillacSignature.com, and only five pairs of each shoe will be available.

If you’re looking for something a little more unique, a one-of-a-kind pair of sneakers is being auctioned off on CharityBuzz.com. They are “inspired by the personal story of professional tennis player and Cadillac brand ambassador Francis Tiafoe.” Proceeds from the auction will support the Francis Tiafoe Foundation, which provides academic services and free or low-cost tennis programs to students.

If shoes aren’t your thing, Cadillac also offers other merchandise, including an Escalade IQ jacket and a $450 Italian-knit cashmere sweater. The company also sells $50 candles that are hand-poured in Detroit.
