— GM is recalling more than 24,000 of its all-electric Cadillac LYRIQ all-wheel-drive SUVs because drivers could lose their brakes.
The recall is for 2023-2024 Cadillac LYRIQ SUVs because the anti-lock braking system (ABS) may unexpectedly activate and release brake pressure in the braking system.
“Under rare circumstances, the vehicle may experience overly sensitive Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) control during certain braking operations at speeds less than 25 mph on dry roads. In these circumstances, if the ABS erroneously activates and a specific sequence of wheel motion occurs, the vehicle’s ABS system will continue to release brake pressure from the vehicle’s service brake system.” — General Motors
GM launched an investigation in May after receiving reports of two minor crashes caused by brake failure.
The Cadillac LYRIQ recall letter is expected to be mailed on September 23, 2024, and dealers will send the electronic brake control module software update over the air. However, owners can also have the dealer perform the update.
More than 2,700 Cadillac vehicles are being recalled in Canada.
Cadillac LYRIQ owners may call 800-458-8006 or 844-EV-CADILLAC (844-382-2345).
The Cadillac LYRIQ recall number is N242453471.
