Officials told us, ‘Performance is performance’, whether it’s an engine or an electric motor

- Cadillac officials told us they believe V-Series customers are ready for an EV.
- They believe that “performance is performance” regardless of the powertrain.
- Electric vehicles could usher in a new era of performance, as the upcoming Escalade IQ is more powerful than the CT5-V Blackwing.
2024 isday This is the anniversary of the V-Series, and its impact goes far beyond sales. At a press conference last week, Cadillac officials revealed that the V-Series is a conquering king that brings new people to the brand.
Some V-Series models in particular have a take-up rate of up to 80%. This is an impressive figure, but it is just one of the reasons why the V-Series is so important, as these customers often buy multiple cars. It also goes without saying that the performance series helps to enhance the brand image and attract enthusiasts.

However, the future is knocking at the door, and it’s electric. This raises a serious question: Will Cadillac V-Series customers continue to buy after the roar of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 fades?
While there are sure to be complaints, officials told us they believe consumers will support electric vehicles. At the end of the day, “performance is performance,” whether it comes from an internal combustion engine or a pair of electric motors.

Electrification could also push the V-Series to new heights, as the Escalade IQ produces 750 hp (559 kW / 760 PS) and 785 lb-ft (1,063 Nm) of torque in Velocity Max mode. That’s significantly more than the aforementioned V8, which produces 668 hp (498 kW / 677 PS) and 659 lb-ft (892 Nm) of torque in the CT5-V Blackwing. It’s worth noting that the GMC Hummer EV Pickup offers up to 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS), so it could potentially offer even more power.
Only time will tell how things will pan out, but strong sales of the Lyriq are an encouraging sign. Second-quarter deliveries surged 441% to 7,294 units, making the electric crossover Cadillac’s second-best-selling vehicle both for the quarter and year to date.
