Chiron owner spilled her drink, Bugatti made her drink it

  • A Chiron owner asked for a cup holder after she spilled some Red Bull in her supercar.
  • Bugatti immediately came up with a solution that slides neatly into the driver’s side door pocket.
  • Custom cup holders can hold a large water bottle and a can of Red Bull.

The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is one of the most high-performance cars ever designed and the only production car to break the fabled 300 mph (483 km/h) barrier. Its price is also as high as seven figures, so high that it makes billionaires sweat. It is the pinnacle of automotive engineering, a masterpiece of speed, luxury and extravagance. You get it. But there’s just one little problem with this French rocket ship: It can’t accommodate your big slogan. Yeah, Bugatti. at last decided to solve this crisis in the first world.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){ adpushup.triggerAd(“0f7e3106 -c4d6-4db4-8135-c508879a76f8”); } else { adpushup.triggerAd(“82503191-e1d1-435a-874f-9c78a2a54a2f”);

Last week, the owner of a gorgeous white Chiron Super Sport with bright pink accents posted a video on social media asking Bugatti design chief Frank Heyl to make a cup holder for her French supercar as a “Christmas wish.” She spilled an entire can of Red Bull into the driver’s door pocket and then yelled.

A few days later, Frank Heyl responded by posting a video on Instagram, subtitled “Well, here’s your stupid coaster.” But it turns out that modifying the Chiron to store drinks isn’t as simple as sticking a $5 plastic insert into the transmission tunnel. Redesigning the area to accommodate drinks is simply impractical. Bugatti’s solution? Dual cup holders that clip neatly into the door pocket.

window._taboola = window._taboola || (); _taboola.push({ mode: ‘thumbnails-a-mid’, container: ‘taboola-mid-article’, location: ‘Mid Article’, target_type: ‘mix’ } );

window._taboola = window._taboola || (); _taboola.push({ mode: ‘thumbnails-oc-2×1’, container: ‘taboola-mid-article-thumbnails-organic’, position: ‘middle article thumbnail organic’ , target_type: ‘mix’ });

It includes a holder that’s perfect for large water bottles, while the second slot is the same size as a can of Red Bull. Hoyl said that if Shannon Ralston, the owner of the white and pink Chiron, is satisfied with the design, Bugatti can create a 3D-printed prototype for her and send it out in early January.

How much does a fancy clip cost?

No one yet knows how much this fancy little cup holder might cost, or whether Bugatti plans to offer it to other Chiron owners. Considering how much Chiron buyers like exclusivity, they probably wouldn’t even want it if someone else could own one. Still, this may prompt Bugatti to finally include cup holders in its next-generation supercar, the V16-powered Tourbillon.

That said, the tourbillon requires a completely different solution. Unlike the Chiron, there are no regular door pockets; instead, it has two small storage compartments hidden behind a leather-covered flap. So unless Bugatti can pull off a storage miracle, you might be looking at another custom-made “engineering marvel” just to hold a can of Red Bull in place.
