Citroën India has finally announced the prices for the entire range of the Basalt coupe SUV, more than a week after the company announced the starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (entry price, ex-showroom). The new Basalt is available in three variants (You, Plus and Max) with an entry price going up to Rs 13.62 lakh (ex-showroom).
Bookings for the Basalt have already begun with prices starting at Rs 11,001 and deliveries are expected to commence in the first week of September 2024. Based on the Stellantis smart car platform, the Basalt SUV is the fourth model Citroen has brought to our market under the C-Cubed program and is positioned above its platform sibling, the C3, in terms of pricing. For your reference, the Citroen C3 starts at Rs 6.16 lakh (ex-showroom).

Citroen Basalt: powertrain, price
Under the hood, the Citroen Basalt gets two engine options – a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol. The former produces 108bhp and 205Nm of peak torque, while the latter produces 81bhp and 115Nm. The NA unit comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox only, while the turbo-petrol engine is available with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and a 6-speed manual gearbox.
You is the entry-level model in the Basalt range and is only available with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, while the mid-range Plus model is offered with three powertrain options: 1.2-litre naturally aspirated, 1.2-litre turbocharged MT and 1.2-litre turbocharged AT. Max is the range-topping model and is only available with a turbocharged petrol engine. Here are the detailed pricing for each model of the Citroen Basalt:

Citroën Basalt: exterior
From the front, the Basalt looks very similar to the C3 Aircross. However, the profile is very different, with sleek alloy wheels and a sloping roofline that extends all the way to the boot lid and merges into a wide tailgate. At the rear, the model features wraparound LED taillights, a silver skid plate and a two-tone bumper. The Basalt’s dimensions are also similar to the C3 Aircross, measuring approximately 4,300 mm in length.
Citroën Basalt: features, safety kit
The dashboard of the Basalt is also basically the same as the design of the C3 Aircross. The dashboard of the C3 Aircross is equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 7.0-inch digital driver display. In addition, the Basalt is also equipped with electric folding mirrors, rear air-conditioning vents, keyless entry, automatic climate control, 15W wireless smartphone charger and one-button start/stop function. A highlight is that the rear long seat has adjustable thigh support, which is a first-of-its-kind feature in its class.

On the safety front, the Basalt comes with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, rear parking camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. It will soon face competition from the Tata Curvv coupe SUV, which will be launched on September 2, 2024.
