The largest model in the Dacia range combines rugged looks with a spacious cabin and a range of electrified powertrains
Dacia has launched its largest model to date, the all-new Bigster, marking its entry into the compact SUV segment. The follow-up to the 2021 concept, the Bigster is essentially a stretched version of the popular Duster, combining the same rugged looks with more space and in-cabin functionality.
The Dacia Bigster measures 4.57 m (179.9 inches) long, 1.81 m (71.3 inches) wide and 1.71 mm (67.3 inches) high. This makes it about 230 mm (9 inches) longer than the Duster, while maintaining the same width.
2024 Dacia Duster review: Is it still the king of budget SUVs?
The styling of the mechanically related SUVs is very similar, although the Bigster comes with a redesigned front bumper, a wider wheelbase and a longer rear overhang. A closer look reveals that the side gills, side windows and tail have also been adjusted.
Inside, the dashboard is carried over from the Duster, contributing to Dacia’s cost-cutting policy. However, the Bigster has more technology and safety features than its smaller sibling. A 10.1-inch infotainment display is standard on all models, while a digital instrument panel is available in 7- and 10-inch versions.
Dacia’s bigger hybrid 155
High-spec Extreme trim comes with a panoramic sunroof, six-speaker Arkamys 3D sound system, navigation and wireless charging. Another flagship model, called Journey, adds an electric tailgate and adaptive cruise control, a first for Dacia.
Another important difference between Bigster and Duster is the space available for passengers and their luggage. The Bigster offers more legroom in the second-row seats and a trunk capacity of 667 liters (23.6 cubic feet).
Like Dacia’s entire ICE power range, the Bigster also uses Groupe Renault’s CMF-B architecture. Powertrain options include mild hybrid and self-charging hybrid setups, including a more powerful new Hybrid 155 version.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
