  • Daihatsu unveiled the Rocky Crossfield concept at the 2024 GIIAS.
  • Modifications include unpainted bumpers, roof racks and all-terrain tires.
  • The concept highlights the tuning potential of an urban SUV.

The Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize twins have been around since 2019, but that hasn’t stopped the automaker from using them as the basis for a new and interesting concept. The Daihatsu Rocky Crossfield made its debut at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Motor Show, and several off-road modifications highlight the tuning potential of this subcompact SUV.

The concept uses the same formula as the Toyota RAV4 Adventure Off-Road Package II, including unpainted plastic bumpers that complement the cool grille cover, black wheel arch moldings, and “Rocky Crossfield” decals on the side of the body.

The Rocky comes with LED headlights, while Daihatsu has opted for halogen lights for the Crossfield concept, paired with yellow fog lights to give it a more purposeful look. The SUV rides on black 16-inch wheels wrapped in Dunlop all-terrain tires, though it would have looked cooler with steel tires.

The Rocky Crossfield is finished in a beautiful Sand Beige Metallic paint job, inspired by beach activities. This design is also used on the aftermarket roof rack, which can accommodate surfboards, tents, retractable awnings and LED light bars. The interior is equipped with a 9-inch infotainment system and dark gray metallic trim.

Under the hood is the stock naturally aspirated 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 85 hp (65 kW / 86 PS) and 105 Nm (77 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to the front axle via a CVT gearbox. Interestingly, Daihatsu didn’t go with a more powerful turbocharged 1.0-liter engine, which would have been more appropriate for a rugged-looking concept car.

This is our second look at the Crossfield version of the Daihatsu Rocky, and it follows on from the original concept from the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022. The 2022 concept featured a hybrid powertrain, body-color bumpers, LED headlights, fender flares, Toyo all-terrain tires, a suspension lift kit, and an aftermarket roof rack.
