Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) This week celebrates the start of construction on Terminal F, which will be the airport’s sixth terminal and DFW’s first new entire terminal since 2005. Terminal F is expected to open in 2027.
“The new Terminal F will expand the airport’s footprint with state-of-the-art facilities that are consistent with our best-in-class customer experience and operations as we support the historic growth of air travel to and from the North Texas region .” DFW CEO Sean Donohue said at the groundbreaking ceremony.
Terminal F prepares DFW for the future
DFW $1.6 billion Terminal F procedures It will provide customers with a new experience and feature a 400,000-square-foot concourse, 15 gates and modern customer facilities. The plan also includes expansion Terminal Eadding more than 100,000 square feet of new check-in, security and baggage claim facilities dedicated to passengers traveling to and from Terminal F. Passengers using Terminal F will check in at Terminal E and transfer between the two facilities via a rapid single-terminal transfer service to the airport’s Skylink system, which once activated will be located above Terminal F. Welcome to a new station.
Terminal F is strategically designed for the future, allowing DFW to expand to additional gates and other amenities. Combined with other ongoing extensions Terminal A and Terminal CDFW’s extensive construction program will provide 24 new touch gates, preparing the airport and its airline partners for continued growth.
DFW is reaching milestone with modular construction
DFW demonstrated the significant advantages modular construction brings to the airport when it used innovative technology to rebuild five gates in Terminal C in 2022. Now, DFW is taking this approach to an industry-leading new scale with multiple terminal projects, including Terminal F.
Preparatory work is underway at the Terminal F prefabrication site, where the modules will be constructed and then moved across the airport to be installed at the final terminal site. Compared to traditional construction methods, where all activities take place on-site at the new facility, modular construction expedited timelines, with major construction activities taking place simultaneously at two locations while mitigating disruption to passengers and facilities.
As airport terminal and roadway construction progresses, the DFW mobile app for iOS or Android devices provides immediate access to travel updates and resources.
