While the Jeep Cherokee XJ conversion is all custom, the Damd WR-V Reverb remains mechanically the same as the stock Honda Elevate (WR-V)
The Indian car market has long been attracted to SUVs. Seeing this trend, Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has developed a new SUV for our market instead of launching a global SUV. Honda has launched a product called Elevate in India with a starting price of Rs 11.69 lakh (excluding taxes).
After launching the Elevate in India, Honda is taking the Indian-made compact SUV to the global market and launching it in Japan as the WR-V. Now, the well-known car tuner Damd is about to launch a modified version of Honda Elevate (WR-V). This retro version of the Elevate SUV is called the Damd WR-V Reverb and will be displayed at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Damd modified Honda Elevate
Since its launch, Honda Elevate has had huge brand potential. The compact SUV also received good response in Japan and was launched as the WR-V. If we look at the company’s exports, Honda Elevate (WR-V) shipped 4,155 units and ranked among the top 10 exported cars from India in October 2024.
This Indian-made Honda Elevate (WR-V) has been modified by Damd and will be showcased at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon. If you’re not familiar with Damd’s work, this aftermarket car tuner has a retro flavor and it’s reflected in their results. In addition to the Damd WR-V Reverb, the Sienta Stuart, N-Box Custom Rodney and Taft Lucky will also be on display at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon.
The company stuck with the Damd WR-V Reverb, which is full of nostalgia for the Jeep Cherokee of the ’90s. Starting with the small details, we can see the decals on the sides giving it that wood paneling aesthetic that American SUVs and minivans used to have. These wood paneling decals act as a contrasting element on top of the base paint.
Additionally, we can see new off-road steel wheels (drum wheels) in black. These steel tires are wrapped in BFGoodrich all-terrain tires for a manly look. The Honda Elevate’s stock hood has been modified to look more muscular, like the one seen on the Jeep Cherokee XJ SUV in the ’90s.
New Cherokee XJ appearance
The front of the Damd WR-V Reverb features a new, fully customized dashboard inspired by the Jeep Cherokee XJ from the 1990s. It has a retro 6-slat grille like the Jeep and has square headlights with LED DRL light bars underneath that also double as turn signals. The rugged-looking bumper also features silver skid plates and fog lamps.
Under the custom hood of this Honda Elevate modified by Damd is an original 1.5L 4-cylinder NA Petrol i-VTEC engine capable of producing 120 bhp of peak power and mated to a 7-step CVT gearbox. Although the Damd WR-V Reverb is a custom concept car that will be shown at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, it is likely to be launched in Japan in limited quantities.
