Details of the upcoming MG Cyberster powertrain revealed in advance

MG Motor India has announced the power and torque figures of its upcoming Cyberster electric sports car, which is slated to be launched in January next year. Judging from the video released by the company, the MG Cyberster features a dual-motor setup that uses advanced technology including a waterfall oil cooling system and 8-layer flat wire windings, allowing the electric car to produce 503bhp (or 510PS) and 725Nm of torque . International-spec models also feature a single-motor rear-wheel drive unit with 308bhp and 475Nm of torque. It remains to be seen whether this option will be available here.

The India-spec MG Cyberster also features front double-wishbone suspension and rear five-link independent suspension for improved handling and stability, and boasts a balanced 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution.

MG Cyberster: Appearance

Tuned by former Italian Formula 1 engineer Marco Fainello, the Cyberster features an aerodynamic “Kammback” design, which is characterized by the vehicle’s sloping roofline and truncated rear styling. The sports car also has a unique low nose, stylish LED headlights (with daytime running lights), contoured bonnet and split front air intakes. The tail has graceful curves, arrow-shaped taillights, rough side lines and sharp edges, and is matched with diamond-cut alloy wheels. The scissor door is a novel feature equipped with built-in dual radar sensors ensuring protection when opening upward or sideways. There is also an anti-pinch rebound feature for added safety. MG Cyberster: Features

The MG Cyberster features three wrap-around digital displays, including a vertically stacked infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, power-adjustable ventilated seats, a retractable roof and a premium Bose sound system are also part of the features list. Safety equipment includes multiple airbags, 360-degree cameras and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The Cyberster is expected to be launched in the Indian market as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) with prices expected to start at Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom). It will have no direct competitors.
