Volkswagen India has achieved a major milestone with its Virtus sedan as domestic sales crossed 50,000 units in just 28 months after its launch. Virtus is quite popular in the Indian market due to its stylish design, advanced features and reliable performance.
Sharing his views on this milestone achievement, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “We are extremely grateful to all our customers for making Volkswagen Virtus India the number one selling premium sedan. Virtus continues to resonate strongly with customers, Crossing the 50,000-unit mark is a testament to the product’s success in the Indian market, making it the most popular premium sedan in the country. Since its launch, we have sold nearly 60 units of the Virtus sedan every day and we are delighted that the Virtus has gained a cult following of its own. Followers, it continues to maintain sales momentum despite the headwinds facing the segment.

Volkswagen Virtus: Powertrain options
The Volkswagen Virtus is available in two powertrain options. The first is a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, mated to a six-speed manual and automatic gearbox, producing 113bhp of maximum power and 178Nm of peak torque. The second option is a 1.5-litre TSI Evo engine, exclusively powering GT-badged Performance Line models, mated to a seven-speed DSC automatic gearbox for enhanced performance.

Volkswagen Virtus: Features
In terms of features, Virtus offers amenities such as a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless AppConnect via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless mobile charging, MyVolkswagen Connect Plus and eight speakers with immersive sound as standard. In addition, the car is equipped with more than 40 active and passive safety configurations. For the uninitiated, the model has received a GNCAP 5-star rating for protection of adult and child occupants.
Earlier this month, the brand launched the much-anticipated Virtus GT Line and Virtus GT Plus Sport. The former is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox and is priced at Rs 14.07 lakh. Meanwhile, the latter starts at Rs 17.84 lakh and comes with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom. Additionally, the carmaker has launched Highline Plus variants for the Virtus and Taigun models while also offering upgraded feature packs for the Taigun GT range.
