EICMA 2024: Honda CUV e: electric scooter showcased together

EICMA 2024: Japanese manufacturer Honda showcased an electric scooter as well as two electric motorcycle concepts at EICMA 2024. At the same time, the Japanese company also launched ICE (Internal Combustion Engine)
Concept – liquid-cooled 75-degree V3 engine with electric compressor. The engine layout of the “world’s first V3 engine” (two cylinders at the front and one at the rear) is an interesting feature that makes it unique. Honda has not yet revealed the V3’s displacement, but said the engine will be used in upcoming “mid- to high-displacement” motorcycles.

Two years after showcasing the EM1 e: electric moped at EICMA 2022, Honda has launched the CUV e: electric scooter. The CUV designation stands for Clean Urban Vehicle. The electric scooter comes with two interchangeable battery packs and is said to be able to travel over 70 kilometers on a single charge. For the CUV e:, owners can choose between a 5.0-inch or 7.0-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity. The vehicle also features 3 driving modes, reverse assist, LED lighting and a USB-C socket.

Honda electric car interesting concept

Let’s understand the concept of electric motorcycles. The first is the EV Fun Concept – the company’s first electric sports bike, featuring a “sleek, futuristic design language” and a sharp headlight design. It delivers what Honda says is “performance equivalent to a midsize internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycle.” Stationary batteries for sports bikes are compatible with CCS2 fast chargers (the same standard as cars). It offers a range of over 100 kilometers (claimed).

Apart from this, the EV Fun Concept also features an inverted front fork and dual radially mounted Nissin brakes to improve stability and handling. Commercialization is expected in 2025.

With its function-focused design, connected technology and internal battery, the EV Urban Concept “embodies Honda’s vision for urban electric mobility.” While little is known about the concept, the image above shows a design similar to a large scooter, while the bike’s battery box and electric motor are reminiscent of the BMW CE 04. It will feature a digital display with navigation.

In addition to the above-mentioned models, Honda also launched the 2025 Transalp XL750, which gets slight design tweaks, a new 5.0-inch TFT instrument cluster, and improved suspension. Since Honda is retailing the Transalp XL750 (Rs 10.99 lakh, ex-showroom) in India, we expect Honda to replace the current model with the 2025 iteration sometime next year.
