
Suzuki Motor Corporation has finally revealed its first mass-market electric SUV/BEV (battery electric vehicle) – the e Vitara. The model was unveiled at an event in Milan, Italy. The Suzuki e Vitara is essentially the final production version of the Maruti eVX, which was first unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo. The carmaker has confirmed that production of the electric SUV will begin in spring 2025 at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat manufacturing plant. Maruti e Vitara will be launched in India from March 2025, followed by Europe.
A brand new electric platform
Suzuki e Vitara is built on the new “HEARTECT-e” platform and is specially developed for pure electric vehicles. Suzuki says this inherently electric architecture is lightweight, offers high-voltage protection, and offers a roomy interior thanks to short overhangs. The scooter electric vehicle platform was jointly developed with Toyota and will also support Toyota’s upcoming mid-size electric SUV to be released in 2026.
Battery options and specifications
As for the powertrain, the Maruti e Vitara will be available in two battery options – 49kWh and 61kWh units. The 49kWh battery version with a single motor puts out 144bhp, while the 61kWh version with a single motor puts out 174bhp. Both setups claim to deliver 189Nm of torque. The larger 61kWh battery can also be paired with a dual-motor setup (with an extra 65bhp motor on the rear axle) and the e-AllGrip AWD system. This configuration delivers 184bhp and 300Nm of torque. Dimensions, braking system
In terms of dimensions, the Maruti e Vitara is 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,635 mm high. Its wheelbase is 2,700 mm, which is longer than the Hyundai Creta’s 2,610 mm wheelbase. The 5-seater electric SUV has a ground clearance of 180 mm and a turning radius of 5.2 meters. e Vitara’s curb weight ranges from 1,702 kg to 1,899 kg. The electric car is equipped with ventilated front and rear disc brakes for enhanced stopping power.

Interior and features
The interior of the Suzuki e Vitara features a dual-screen setup, with one screen serving as the infotainment system and the other as the instrument cluster. The SUV features a newly designed two-spoke steering wheel with flat top and bottom. The dashboard and floating center console are finished in gloss black, and the cabin features rectangular air conditioning vents surrounded by brushed silver bezels and a mix of fabric and leatherette upholstery. design details
The design and styling of the Suzuki e Vitara are basically the same as the concept car. It follows the “High Tech and Adventure” design theme, with front and rear three-slash LED daytime running lights, pronounced wheel arches, front side charging port, black cladding around the body, and C-pillar integrated rear door handles. The AWD version comes with 225/50 R19 wheels, while the 2WD version comes with 225/55 R18 wheels.
Competition and expected prices
In India, the Maruti e Vitara will be positioned to compete with the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra BE 05. It is expected to be the premium offering from the Indo-Japanese carmaker, with the entry-level – 49kWh variant priced around Rs 20 lakh, the 61kWh variant priced around Rs 25 lakh and the top-end e-AllGrip AWD 61kWh variant priced around Rs 20 lakh. 30 Lakhs.
