Episode 016 – Unleashing the Power of Happiness – Interview with professional happiness coach Christina Unrein
Christina’s goal is to empower people to find their happiness and achieve it faster!
Q: Who is your ideal client?
A: Weirdos, eccentrics, wannabes, workaholics, people pleasers. I also like to work with people who are brave and who love to be themselves – no matter what that looks like.
Happiness is an ongoing choice, we must stick with it!
Q – What experiences have you had at trade shows?
A: I have been in almost every situation at a trade show. As an exhibitor behind the booth, in front of the booth, walking around the show, etc.
Q: Do you think happiness is missing at trade shows?
A: I think for a party to happen, it has to be intentional. It can’t be forced. You shouldn’t say, “We’re just going to play music or have an ice cream social.” It has to be intentional.
A more personalized environment should be created rather than a “sales” environment.
But this is rarely the case, especially in business, because people are so focused on results — scanning a badge or business card. People rarely create an environment for pure conversation — but in fact, this is where happiness naturally arises.
Q: How do you create an environment conducive to happiness, especially in more “serious” industries like medicine, law, insurance, etc.?
A: Think about your audience and how overwhelmed they are. What they experience at the show – long waits, poor food choices, etc.
Now think about what would energize them and what would make them curious.
Then let them care about what they care about. Let them tell you by asking questions. Get curious about them!
Ask them how you can best support them, because the answer may not be you! It may be you connecting them with someone else on the show.
Be a servant! Learn how you can help them and they will remember it and maybe even recommend you to others because you made them happier in some way.
Q: How do you get out of the mindset of “I’m here for the job, I’m here for the company, I’m here to get results”?
A – Start thinking I am here to have fun, meet new people, add quality and vitality to their lives. I am here to learn and grow. There are all kinds of ways to change your mindset and be purposeful.
One thing is to be authentic so people can really get to know who you are.
Also – stay curious!
If the show is lackluster, meet with people at other booths to see how you can add value to them.
You already know what you know. Give yourself a chance to learn from others by being curious, asking questions, and then being quiet and listening.
Q – Please tell us about your book!
A – The title of this book is – “The Happiness Workbook: Rise of the Happiness Warriors!”

One thing to know – I don’t like writing! So it wasn’t a lot of copying, but a lot of practice.
I take the concept in each short chapter and try to apply it in the five ways most people learn: (1) by doodling, drawing, or creating. (2) by moving. (3) by visualizing. (4) by reading aloud. (5) by breaking down the concept and rebuilding it.
You can do as many or as few of them as you want, and in whatever order you want.
Q: What would you like to say to those who are more introverted or afraid to reach out to others?
A – Find something you enjoy or that brings you joy. For those who enjoy working with their hands or building things,
Choose to bring these types of things into your booth and you’ll attract people because you’re unique, authentic, and full of joy.
People can see and feel that you are having fun, and they will be drawn to you. Share that joy with them.
This allows you to own your space and share your joy!
Christina’s takeaway:
(1) Show up! Do things your way. Realize that being yourself is not that different from being attractive. Be authentic!
(2) Stay curious! Ask questions.
(3) Strive to build relationships rather than always sell.
