Episode 056 – 3 lessons from Tony Robbins to help your campaign soar

I was watching a speech by Tony Robbins (the world’s most successful life coach and motivational speaker) and even though he wasn’t speaking directly to the trade show and events industry, it certainly seemed like it to me!

Among his many points, he offers three powerful lessons that I want to share with you in this episode—and show you how to incorporate them into your upcoming virtual and in-person events!

1. You act differently depending on where you think you are in a relationship

What would you do for someone in the early stages of a relationship? Anything!!

But over time, we lost that

Think about cell phone and cable companies. They lure us in with huge promotions and then seem to forget about us.

What are you doing to build long-term relationships with sponsors, exhibitors, visitors and customers?

· Successful marriage counselors work to get couples to remember the original things and start doing them again!

2. Why can kids beat us in video games? Because they have foresight!

Have you ever let your kids play a video game that you’ve never played before? Why can they play it for 45 minutes, but we can’t even last 45 seconds?

They have already played the game

They know the road ahead

They have expectations

Winners predict, losers react

3. Engagement is the key to business breakthroughs

Think about it – being first or having the most resources is not enough

MySpace and Facebook

Comparison between Vimeo and YT

Yahoo and Google

These companies succeed because they are better at engaging

The higher the engagement, the greater the satisfaction

Think about it – we like to be around people who are interested in us

Business imitates life because people buy from people

Take these three things away…

1. Always act like you are in the beginning of a relationship

2. Predict what will happen next. Brainstorm these 20 most important questions with your team

3. Get involved and stay involved
