
Just two days after the end of the season, Leclerc set the fastest lap while testing 2025 tire compounds for Pirelli at the 2024 F1 post-season test at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi.
Charles Leclerc set the fastest lap during post-season testing for Scuderia Ferrari at Yas Marina Circuit. During the nine-hour race, both novice and regular riders tested various settings and 2025 Pirelli tires. Leclerc overtook his former team-mate Carlos Sainz, who finished second on his Williams debut. Mercedes’ George Russell was third. Sainz performed well in his first test with Williams in the morning and quickly adapted to the team. His second-place finish proved he can adapt well to his new surroundings, giving Williams hope of a strong 2025 season. The test provided valuable insight as the team prepares for next season, showcasing the potential of the new driver and car setup.

McLaren took part in the test with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. They are focused on testing new components and improving the car for the 2025 season rather than chasing fast lap times. This approach is in line with McLaren’s strategy to build on its success in 2024.
F1: Abu Dhabi post-season testing results
After Yuki Tsunoda played for VCARB for several seasons, Red Bull gave him his first test with the home team. Tsunoda completed valuable laps and finished mid-table, while Red Bull focused on improving their 2024 car in order to continue their dominance in the upcoming season. Liam Lawson, riding for VCARB, finished 13th and set the benchmark for laps completed, finishing with an impressive 159 laps of the Yas Marina trip, the best of all drivers Most.

Williams also gave rookie Luke Browning a chance to impress. Browning put in a strong lap and finished in the top 12, underscoring his potential as a future F1 driver. In post-season testing, Mercedes’ rising star Kimi Antonelli also continued to prepare for his F1 debut.

The 2025 F1 season will kick off with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 16.
