Faraday Future previews mainstream foreign exchange prototype

  • EVF startup Faraday Future has released the first teaser image of the FX prototype.
  • It’s unclear whether this is the FX 5 or FX 6, but the model’s styling appears to be modeled after the FF 91.
  • The prototype will be shipped to the United States for testing, with production starting as early as next year.

Faraday Future announced their plans for the mainstream brand earlier this year, and now they’ve released the first teaser image of the Faraday X (FX) prototype. This might be one of the worst publicity photos in history, but it gives us a look at a camouflaged vehicle behind a trailer.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”) { adpushup.triggerAd(“4d84e4c9 -9937-4f84-82c0-c94544ee6f2a”); } else{ adpushup.triggerAd(“6a782b01-facb-45f3-a88f-ddf1b1f97657”);

While there isn’t much to see, the mystery model has prominent wheel arches and side mirrors on the doors. They’re connected by an angled shoulder line, relatively small wheels, and a greenhouse that extends beyond the front door. There also appears to be a prominent badge on the front fender.

Faraday Future didn’t reveal much about the vehicle, but confirmed that the first batch of FX prototypes have arrived at its headquarters in China and will eventually make their way to Los Angeles. The automaker added that the shipment “marks the official start of the development and testing phase” as they aim to become “the Toyota of the AIEV (Artificial Intelligence Electric Vehicle) era.”

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”) { adpushup.triggerAd(“5646c171 -cb6e-4e2c-8440-49013ca72758”); } else { adpushup.triggerAd(“e7c4c913-3924-4b2d-9279-6c00984dd130”);

Marketing hyperbole aside, the company previously announced plans for FX 5 and FX 6. The former is expected to be a “large space sports AIEV” priced between US$20,000 and US$30,000. The FX 6, on the other hand, will be a large family car with a target price of between $30,000 and $50,000.

Both will feature electric and extended-range powertrains, although nothing is known about them yet. The company also said it expects to start production by the end of 2025, but this “is subject to securing the necessary funding.”

At this point, Faraday Future’s forward-looking statement is longer than the press release and highlights a number of red flags, including the company’s limited operating history, significant obstacles to growth, history of losses, and expectations of continued losses.
