This is the second fatal crash involving a Cybertruck in recent months

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has confirmed it is investigating a recent fatal Tesla Cybertruck crash that killed three teenagers in California late last month.
The accident occurred in the Piedmont region in the early morning of November 27. Local police rushed to the scene and found that the Cybertruck had been engulfed in flames. A witness pulled the sole survivor from the truck. All four residents are Piedmont High School Class of 2023 graduates and have returned home to celebrate Thanksgiving.

A spokesperson for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently told Business Insider that the agency “is aware of the accident and is gathering information from the manufacturer and law enforcement.” The official noted that at this stage, No formal investigation has been launched.
After the accident, both the Piedmont Police Department and the California Highway Patrol said they were investigating the cause of the accident. Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Powers said speed may have played a role.
“It’s safe to say that speed was a factor. Now, are there other factors involved? It’s certainly possible, but speed may have been a factor in this collision,” he said. Police added there was no immediate indication that mechanical problems with the Cybertruck caused the crash.
The Tesla caught fire shortly after it crashed into a concrete wall and became wedged between it and a large tree, but it’s unclear whether the cause of the fire was its high-voltage battery pack. Piedmont Fire Chief Dave Brannigan said it was similar to a “typical car fire,” while Powers commented that the fire was “so intense” that officers tried to put it out but were unable to. success. Eventually, firefighters extinguished the blaze.
This is the second fatal accident involving a Tesla Cybertruck in the United States. The first accident occurred in early August when a man driving an electric pickup truck crashed near Beach City in Chambers County, Texas, hitting a concrete culvert and starting a fire.
