- Fiat has launched a strange new campaign comparing the 500e to the Tesla Cybertruck.
- The company said the videos celebrated “the electricity between us,” but they reeked of desperation.
- The Fiat 500e starts at $32,500 and has a modest range of 149 miles.
Smart smart Even though the Fiat is good enough to pull out of the U.S., it still makes dozens of people happy. This is no joke, as the brand only sold 235 500e electric hatchbacks in the third quarter of this year.

Judging by that number, the 500e is beaten by several vehicles that are no longer in production. Jeep dealers sold 435 Cherokees and 450 Renegades in the third quarter, while 978 Chrysler 300 sedans found new homes. Even the Fiat 500X, which will be discontinued in 2023, generated 81 sales.
Review: The Fiat 500e is a stylish electric car, but how much does it cost?
So what are some bold plans to boost interest? Obviously, compare the 500e to the Tesla Cybertruck. It’s a strange move to say the least, but Fiat has released two new videos showing “the similarities and differences between the two unique all-electric vehicles.”
var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){ adpushup.triggerAd(“5646c171 -cb6e-4e2c-8440-49013ca72758″); } else{ adpushup.triggerAd(” e7c4c913-3924-4b2d-9279-6c00984dd130″); } });
In “You Say Pomodoro, We Say Pomodoro,” Fiat says the Cybertruck is shocking and the 500e is shocking. They go on to claim that the pickup truck is “inspired by angles,” while the electric hatchback is “inspired by angels.” The clip then points out that this is “what electric cars should look like.”
Of course, some may disagree. After all, the 500e is slow, expensive and has a short range. Starting at $32,500, customers will get a 117 hp (87 kW/119 PS) electric car with a range of 149 miles (240 km) on a single charge.
On the plus side, that’s nearly $70,000 cheaper than the Cybertruck. However, the entry-level all-wheel-drive pickup truck has 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS) and a range of approximately 340 miles (547 km). Additionally, in July, it became the best-selling car over $100,000 in the United States, surpassing other models on the market.
