- A late night house fire damaged about a half-million dollars worth of cars.
- Cars on the property include a Lamborghini, a Ferrari and several JDM cars.
- The cause of the fire is not yet clear, but it is suspected not to be human-caused.
On the evening of September 5, firefighters arrived at Willowridge Court in Oakville, Ontario to find a garage on fire. Several cars were parked inside. At least two were “completely destroyed,” with damage estimated at more than $500,000. It appears some very special cars survived, like a Lamborghini Murcielago and an R32 Nissan Skyline.

The fire, which started around 10:30 p.m., appeared to have damaged a Toyota MR2 that was on a car lift. Below it was a yellow Ferrari. Another Ferrari, a BMW 4 Series, a Lamborghini Murcielago, an R32 Nissan Skyline and a Toyota Supra all appeared to have no major damage.

According to CHCH, police do not believe there was any foul play here. Firefighters reportedly said the fire could have been caused by a faulty circuit breaker box or even a battery in the garage. There is no clear indication what the fire department meant by that, but the battery explanation seems unlikely to include electric vehicles. Electric vehicles are notoriously difficult to extinguish, and if that were the case, it would make sense for the fire department to mention that.

A house fire in January involving a Volvo hybrid and a Tesla caused significant damage and what firefighters called a “significant challenge.” Batteries often go into thermal runaway and continue to burn until there is enough cooling to stop a chain reaction.
In the case of the house where the exotic sports car was parked, the damage appears to have been almost entirely on one side of the garage, which did not allow the fire to spread before authorities were able to extinguish it. Most importantly, no one in each of the above homes, including pets, was seriously injured.
