Fisker appears to be changing its approach to making owners pay for recalls
  • Fisker recently informed its customers that they will be responsible for the recall labor costs.
  • Now, the bankrupt automaker appears to be changing tack and willing to absorb the labor costs.
  • It also changed some other details in the FAQ page.

Fisker continues to make headlines, and almost entirely for reasons that are not worth getting excited about. On Sunday, a new FAQ page appeared on its website informing owners that they would have to pay for recall-related labor. Now, just a few days later, it appears to have reversed that requirement.

In response to the question, “Will I be charged for recall-related inspections or repairs?” the electric vehicle startup responded:

“As an owner, software updates are provided over the air at no cost to you. These updates are part of our commitment to ensuring the continued safety and performance of your Fisker Ocean.

For recalls that require a physical inspection and potential repairs, Fisker will provide the necessary parts to you free of charge. However, due to Fisker’s current financial situation under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the company can only cover the cost of the parts required to resolve these issues. Please note that The inspection and repair process needs to be borne by you (the car owner)

This has left the owner, and many others, feeling very unhappy. Today, the page was updated with a new question, which we will return to, but the main point seems to be that Fisker will now cover the labor costs. Now, the answer to the same question on the FAQ page is simple:

“For software updates delivered over the air, As a car owner, you don’t have to pay anythingThese updates are part of our commitment to ensuring the continued safety and performance of your Fisker Ocean. For recalls that require a physical inspection and potential repair, Fisker will provide you with the necessary parts (including labor) at no charge.”

Carscoops reached out to Fisker to confirm our knowledge of the situation and will update this post if we hear back.

As mentioned above, this isn’t the only change to the page. Fisker also answered a question about what would happen if the Ocean SUV didn’t have version 2.0 software. It turns out they should be able to update to version 2.0 without any problems, or even the latest version 2.2. Hey, check this out! Some good news from Fisker for owners to enjoy.
