Ford dropped 4 recalls in one day

These recalls will affect at least seven different models of 60,000 vehicles

  • Ford has issued four new recalls, affecting more than 60,000 vehicles across multiple product lines.
  • Some vehicles have problems with windows not retracting when detecting objects.
  • Others suffer from a faulty camera, which will be fixed with a software update.

Ford knows it has a recall problem, and naturally, it’s working on the solution, although they’ve said it before. This is the second time this month the automaker has issued multiple recalls on the same day. Now, it is four of them, covering over 60,000 vehicles in at least seven different models. All problems can be solved with software updates, which could be a silver silver hope for the entire ordeal.

Earlier this month, Ford released eight recalls on the same day. Most also involve software updates to correct software errors – yes, it seems that the software Gremlins is still working. But at least they are mostly resolved without having to haul the car to get new parts.

The troubles of backup cameras

For example, the biggest recall of the day included 49,399 cars, including explorers from 2020-2023, Lincoln pilots from the same span, and Lincoln Corsair from 2020-2022 to correct backup camera errors. Apparently, each of these vehicles was either not repaired at all or had a lower repair in previous recalls.

Battery degradation detection

The second biggest goal is the Mustang Sports 2021-2024 and the Mavericks 2022-2023. The 12,833 vehicles included must receive software updates to address issues related to the detection of sudden degradation. Essentially, this can cause the car to stall or not restart at all after the automatic stop/start event.

Edge and Super Recall

Next, for the 2,290 2021-2022 Ford Edge model, we have a much smaller recall. Just like the backup camera recall, the camera also solves the software problem with the backup camera. When reversed, the affected vehicle may display a blank, deformed, discolored or completely white screen, which is definitely not an ideal choice for those who need to see where they are going.

Finally, there is another software issue for the 9 Ford Super Duty Trucks for the 2023 model year. This time, it boils down to the automatic repetition function on the window. When the window discovers a potential pinch, it should retract itself. Again, the best part of the whole situation is that fixes will be more than just software updates. Hopefully this new problem can solve these problems permanently.

Finally, the silver lining here is that the fix seems to be a simple software update, so no one has to deal with part replacement.
