- Ford delivered 478,326 vehicles (-0.4%) in the third quarter of 2024, including Lincoln, 504,039 vehicles (+0.7%).
- Ranger (+110%) and F-150 Lightning (+105%) saw the largest sales increases.
- The Blue Oval’s hybrid vehicle sales increased by 38% in the third quarter, electric vehicle sales increased by 12%, while ICE sales fell by 3%.
Ford’s sales in the third quarter of 2024 were 478,326 vehicles, excluding Lincoln, a slight decrease of 0.4% compared to the same period last year.

The biggest winner among Blue Oval’s vehicles was the Ranger mid-size pickup truck, with sales reaching 15,504 units in the third quarter of 2024, an impressive 110% increase compared to the same period last year.

Sales of the all-electric F-150 Lightning also jumped 105% (7,162 units), while F-150 Hybrid sales increased 64% (20,129 units). However, overall F-Series truck deliveries fell 4% in the third quarter of 2024 (190,477 units). Still, Ford is confident it will remain the best-selling model among its competitors for the 48th year in a row.

On the downside, the biggest sales declines were the Transit Connect (-75%), the discontinued Edge (-60%) and the Bronco (-19%). The latter sold 26,796 units, but was surpassed by the unibody Bronco Sport, which sold 34,603 units, a 4% increase.
Despite price cuts and incentives on some models, Mustang Mach-E sales fell 9.8% in the third quarter to 13,392 deliveries. Overall, though, sales of the electric crossover are up 23.4% this year through September, with 35,626 units delivered, compared with 28,882 units delivered in the same nine-month period last year.
2025 Ford Explorer
Overall Ford SUV sales fell 9% in the third quarter, with one exception: the Explorer. Driven by renewed customer interest, the recently facelifted model led the SUV range with sales of 41,996 units, up 24.6%. Ford is hoping for similar results with its upcoming large Expedition, which fell 13% in the third quarter.
As for the Ford Mustang, the pony car sold 9,041 units in the third quarter, down 8% year-over-year, despite a surge in sales in August (largely due to the discontinuation of production of rivals Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger).
In terms of powertrain trends, Ford hybrid vehicle sales increased 38% (48,101 units), electric vehicle sales increased 12% (23,509 units), while internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle sales fell 3% (432,429 units). Ford also claimed that it will rank second in U.S. electric vehicle sales in 2024, with 67,689 units sold so far this year, an increase of 45%, second only to Tesla.
