Ford Maverick price surges 30%, that’s too much

  • Ford has unveiled the revamped 2025 Maverick, with pricing starting at $26,295.
  • While it’s still the cheapest pickup truck in the U.S., the price is $6,400 higher than the 2022 model.
  • This represents a significant increase of nearly 30% compared to the past three years.

When the Ford Maverick popped up, it lived up to expectations, starting at $19,995 and with a hybrid powertrain that got us 49 mpg in real-world testing. Unfortunately, times have changed, and the Maverick is no longer cheap.

var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== “DESKTOP”){ adpushup.triggerAd(“4d84e4c9 -9937-4f84-82c0-c94544ee6f2a”); } else{ adpushup.triggerAd(“6a782b01-facb-45f3-a88f-ddf1b1f97657”); } });

Quite the contrary, the facelifted pickup starts at $26,295 before the $1,595 destination charge. That’s $6,400 more than the 2022 Maverick, which represents a nearly 30% increase in just three years (including the destination charge).

While the 2025 Maverick looks much better on paper, it’s already pretty close to midsize pickups. Especially since the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab starts at $29,500, just $3,205 more than the Ford. The Nissan Frontier is also pretty cheap, as the King Cab model starts at $30,510, while the Crew Cab model costs $31,810.

Domestically, the Maverick will have to compete with the facelifted Hyundai Santa Cruz. Pricing for the 2025 model has yet to be announced, but the upcoming pickup will start at $26,900 with a lower $1,395 destination charge.

But it’s important to note that the 2025 Maverick introduces a host of improvements, including a hybrid model with all-wheel drive that’s expected to return 40 mpg in the city, just 2 mpg less than the front-wheel-drive model.

In addition to the powertrain updates, the 8-inch display screen on the Temu has been replaced with a 13.2-inch SYNC 4 infotainment system. Buyers will also find revised styling and a host of standard driver assistance systems, including pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, automatic high beams, and a rearview camera.
