— Ford 2023-2024 Maverick, 2023 Ford Bronco Sport and 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles are equipped with front windshield wiper motors that may fail, causing the wipers to fail.
Ford is recalling more than 37,300 vehicles due to faulty wiper blades, and Ford dealers may be able to fix the problem by replacing the wiper motors.
In April, reports surfaced of faulty windshield wipers on Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles, prompting Ford to launch an investigation.
Engineers discovered that water had entered the windshield wiper motor, causing it to stop working.
The supplier determined that water was getting into the wiper motor because sealant was not properly applied between the gear cover and the gear case.
Ford also discovered that Bronco Sport, Maverick and Mach-E models were equipped with the same faulty wiper motors, which were manufactured on specific dates and at specific times.
As of July 15, 2024, Ford is aware of 81 warranty reports worldwide confirming water ingress into wiper motors, but no accidents or injuries have been reported.
Ford windshield wiper motor recall letters will be mailed on August 26, 2024.
Ford owners can call 866-436-7332 and ask for windshield wiper recall number 24S51.
