Ford's previously standard SecuriCode keyboard becomes a dealer option for the 2025 F-150 for $455
  • Ford’s SecuriCode keypad is no longer a standard feature on the 2025 F-150.
  • Buyers can still install the feature by paying dealers an additional $455.

Countless Ford owners over the decades have intentionally locked their keys inside their vehicles. But thanks to the SecuriCode feature, they don’t have to worry about someone taking their keys. The SecuriCode feature allows entry to the vehicle with a simple key code. Now, this standard feature is no longer available on the F-150, making it the last Ford model to still have it.

This feature dates back to the 1980s. The user simply enters a simple five-digit code and the driver’s door unlocks. Entering a specific sixth digit unlocks all doors. If the user does not want to lose or damage the key when leaving the vehicle, they can leave the key in the car without having to worry about not being able to use it when they return.

Now that several companies, including Ford, offer mobile key services, the SecuriCode feature may not be as relevant anymore. For whatever reason, Ford Authority reports that the feature is no longer standard on the F-150. Previously, the Bronco, Maverick, and Escape also no longer offer the feature.

Thankfully, for those who really want it, it’s still available as a $455 dealer-installed add-on. Interestingly, Lincoln will continue to offer the feature as standard on the 2025 Corsair. All signs point to its imminent demise, though.

I’ve owned a Ford vehicle with this feature for several years now, and I can attest to how convenient it is. I can pop to my car to get something late at night without having to fetch or look for my keys. It’s also great to not have to carry my keys around with me and not lose them while mountain biking or hiking. SecuriCode also enables me to provide others with access to my car when I’m not near it.

It will be interesting to see if we get data on how many customers start adding it as a dealer-installed option at this stage.
