Georgia World Convention Center, Atlanta, USA(Georgia World Congress Center) is a conference center located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. At approximately 3.9 million square feet (360,000 square meters) and hosting over one million visitors annually, it is the third-largest convention center in the United States. Opened in 1976, the GWCC was the first state-owned convention center in the United States.
The center is managed on behalf of the state by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, which was authorized by the Georgia General Assembly in 1971 to develop the Atlanta International Trade and Exposition Center. The Authority later developed the Georgia Dome, Centennial Olympic Park, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, replacing the Georgia Dome. In 2017, the Georgia Dome closed on March 5 and was demolished due to an implosion on November 20, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium officially opened on August 26. While the GWCCA owns Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League and Atlanta United AMB Group of Major League Soccer, the parent company of United FC, operate the stadium.
