- The facelifted Kia EV6 GT has been launched in South Korea and will be launched in the US market in the first half of 2025.
- The performance flagship of the EV6 range looks very similar to the milder GT-Line trim.
- The GT has a more powerful powertrain with up to 645 horsepower, false gears and a larger 84 kWh battery.
Kia has given us our first look at the all-new GT version of the facelifted EV6 in South Korea, introducing a host of styling, technology and mechanical enhancements compared to its critically acclaimed predecessor.
The updated EV6 will debut in May 2024, with a North American-spec version unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. At the time, Kia had only shown us the standard and GT-Line trims, so this marks the first time we’ve gotten a proper look at the flagship GT variant.
Subtle yet sporty upgrades
As expected, the EV6 GT borrows heavily from the GT-Line’s trim, sharing the same aggressive body kit and sleek, slimmer LED lights. But a closer look reveals some key design highlights that make the GT stand out.
First up, the GT comes with a unique set of 21-inch alloy wheels paired with eye-catching lime green brake calipers. The differences don’t stop there, look at the bumper air intakes, where the GT has a unique pattern, as well as a redesigned rear diffuser and vertical reflectors that replace the GT-Line’s horizontal reflectors.

The exterior color palette further enhances differentiation. While the Wolf Gray option has grabbed attention in press reports, other colors include Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl, and Yachting Matte Blue. Inside, the GT’s exclusive “Black and Neon” theme continues with lime green accents on black leather and suede upholstery.
On the technology front, the EV6 GT keeps up with modern expectations, adding a curved digital cockpit that integrates dual 12.3-inch displays, augmented reality navigation and a redesigned steering wheel. The sport bucket seats now feature 8-way power adjustment, heating and ventilation to ensure you stay quiet, comfortable and cool.
More power and simulated gearbox
In addition to welcome exterior and interior upgrades, the 2026 Kia EV6 GT benefits from extra power and a larger battery, matching the specs of the mechanically related Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
The dual-motor AWD powertrain produces 601 hp (448 kW / 609 hp) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque, increasing to 645 hp (481 kW / 654 hp) and 770 Nm (568 lb-ft). . ft) using the temporary boost function.
When launch control is activated, the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint is accomplished in 3.5 seconds. Despite the increase in power (+65 hp and +23 lb-ft), acceleration figures are the same as the pre-facelift EV6 GT and 0.1 second slower than the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
What differentiates the EV6 GT from the pre-facelift model is a virtual gearshift system borrowed from Hyundai. Yes, it’s a bit gimmicky, but for those who miss the drama of internal combustion, this faux gearbox simulates gear changes with sound effects and torque modulation. Whether you’ll find it engaging or get boring after a few miles is debatable – but at least Kia is trying to inject some personality into the EV experience.
Other standard performance features include electronically controlled suspension and an electronic limited-slip differential (e-LSD).
Range gain and familiar fast charging
Last but not least, the EV6 GT’s range has been slightly improved thanks to the new 84 kWh battery (previously 77.4 kWh), which now stands at 355 kilometers (221 miles) according to Korean testing protocols. Official figures from the EPA have yet to be released, but are expected to be slightly lower than that. Like the previous model, the battery supports 350 kW fast charging, charging from 10% to 80% in less than 18 minutes.
Pricing and availability
The EV6 GT is already available for order in South Korea, with North American deliveries scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025. Despite the performance and technology improvements, Kia has kept Korean pricing steady at 72.2 million won ($51,800 after subsidies). It remains to be seen whether this U.S.-spec model will maintain its predecessor’s $61,600 MSRP, but if so, it’s still a solid choice for those eyeing a high-end performance EV.
