Glickenhaus finally starts production of road-legal 004 supercar
  • The driver-focused 004S and 004CS are based on a lightweight carbon fiber monocoque.
  • Pricing starts at $450,000 without options.
  • New York dealer HK Motorcars is tasked with selling this supercar with roots in motorsport.

It’s been six years since Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus unveiled its road-legal three-seat supercar, the 004, and now production has finally begun. The 004 was originally planned to be built in Connecticut, but has been moved to Roush Performance’s factory in Detroit, Michigan. Customer deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2025.

There are two versions of this car, namely 004S and 004CS. Both feature custom carbon fiber monocoques and are powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. The engine is believed to be GM’s LT4, used in the C7 Corvette Z06 and Cadillac CTS-V. It delivers 650 horsepower and is exclusively coupled to a six-speed manual transmission with a gated shifter.

Glickenhaus has been racing the competition-spec 004C for many years, and lessons learned from that were used to create the road-going 004CS. Compared to the standard 004S, the 004CS features a blown rear diffuser, center-lock wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and larger brakes. It also comes standard with a front suspension lift system.

The 004 is billed as one of the most hardcore, driver-focused cars available, so it’s no surprise that the interior is very austere and lacks some of the features you’d find in similar high-volume supercars. That being said, it does come with air conditioning, power-adjustable seats, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The eye-catching gold model features a Momo Prototipo steering wheel in Alcantara, which contrasts with several gold-painted components such as the instrument cluster, gear selector and footrests for the two rear passengers.

Glickenhaus sells the 004S and 004CS exclusively through HK Motorcars in Mount Kisco, New York. Pricing starts at a whopping $450,000.

“The 004 embodies everything that Glickhaus stands for. It’s a car that was designed first and foremost for racing, but no expense was spared in converting to a road-legal platform that would otherwise come with the typical ‘road racing’ nature. It’s truly a pleasure to drive and use every day,” commented HK Motorcars Sales Director Nat Mundy at the launch of the car.
