- At 197 inches long, the new sedan is larger than the Honda Accord.

Baojun is known for making cute and affordable electric cars, but the company just launched their “first smart flagship sedan.” It’s called the Xiangjing, and the model will be available with plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains.

The company hasn’t revealed much about the car yet, but it has a Porsche Taycan-like front fascia with a round bumper and slim headlights with horizontal daytime running units. They are connected by a vertical air curtain and a small lower air inlet.

Looking further back we can see the panoramic glass roof, flush-mounted door handles and aerodynamically optimized wheels. The designers also gave the car a spacious greenhouse and plenty of highlights.

In terms of dimensions, the Xiangjing is 197 inches (5,005 mm) long and has a wheelbase of 114.2 inches (2,900 mm). To put those numbers into perspective, the Honda Accord is 1.3 inches (33 mm) shorter and the distance between the wheels is 2.8 inches (71 mm) shorter.
Although billed as a flagship sedan, Baojun said the car is a mainstream entry-level car that will be desirable and comfortable. The company went on to say that it will “meet the diverse needs of urban commuters,” from “young families to elites.”
While there are currently more questions than answers, the electric version will reportedly feature a lithium iron phosphate battery along with a 249 horsepower (186 kW / 253 PS) electric motor. This gives the model a top speed of 106 mph (170 km/h).
Plug-in hybrid models are expected to feature smaller lithium iron phosphate batteries and have a CLTC range of 63 miles (101 kilometers). However, it should be paired with a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine developing 141 hp (105 kW / 143 hp).
