AGF (Green Future) is a leader in helping the global lifestyle industry become greener. AGF certification is the world’s first and most comprehensive sustainability standard for live events, aiming to reduce waste and emissions at festivals and events and enhance equality and biodiversity.
Events and festivals of all shapes and sizes from around the world are demonstrating their commitment to sustainability and successfully achieving certification in 2024. These include Les Escales (France), Bristol Harbor Festival (UK), Paléo Festival (Switzerland), American Express Festival BST Hyde Park (UK), Telluride (USA), Westgate Film Festival (Hungary) ), Rosendal Garden Party (Sweden), UEC European Road Championship (Belgium) and Barcelona D’A Film Festival (Spain), while Green Gathering (UK), Øyafestivalen (Norway), Paradise City (Belgium) and We Love Green (France) are certified “Outstanding”.
AGF chief executive Claire O’Neill said: “While the world is slowly catching up with legislation and better practice, it’s great to see festivals and events going above and beyond the legal requirements to protect and enhance biodiversity; reducing Emissions and waste; preventing pollution; and making positive changes. These activities choose to take responsibility, inviting detailed external review to ensure they deliver.”
To achieve certification, events need to undergo a comprehensive assessment against the AGF framework, including self-assessment, site visits and submission of post-event evidence and data to AGF assessors for an independent audit report. The AGF framework includes 11 key themes including local ecosystems and communities, travel, food, energy, water, waste, EDI and governance.

The International AGF Awards 2025 will be held in London on February 25, in partnership with ILMC, during the Green Events and Innovation (GEI17) conference.
Sponsored by Skydiamond, the event will showcase the most innovative and green-ambitious global events, venues, organizations and individuals from the past 12 months.
Last year’s roll call included 27 nominees from 12 countries, nine of whom won one of our prestigious awards. The top honor – the 2024 International Green Festival Award – went to Belgium’s Paradise City, which also won the Green Dining Award for its vegetarian and locally sourced menu.
