Full Service Event Management Company Bishop McCann has announced its new proprietary happiness indexan innovative measurement tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to quantify attendee engagement and experience in real time.
This tool leverages cutting-edge technology and is designed to help planners quickly understand what truly resonates with audiences during an event, thereby creating more impactful and joyful events.
A new standard for measuring event success
Historically, post-event surveys have been the primary way to measure event success, relying on participants to recall what they learned or how they felt. These one-dimensional surveys don’t provide a clear picture of attendees’ current level of engagement, a measure that is critical to event planners’ success.
The Happiness Index is changing that by using a combination of artificial intelligence tools, including facial analysis and wearable technology, to provide instant, more accurate, science-based measurements of attendee emotions and reactions.
“With the Happiness Index, we are moving beyond vanity metrics like five-star ratings. Our approach allows us to track real-time engagement over time to understand exactly how attendees are responding,” said Rob Adams, CEO and owner. Bishop McCann In a media announcement. “This isn’t passive feedback; it’s active feedback.” It’s real data, capturing how people are really feeling. This allows us to dissect each session and make adjustments on the fly to ensure our events resonate deeply and effectively with our audiences. ”
Two key technologies drive the happiness index:
- Immersive platform: Created by renowned neuroscientist Dr. Paul Zak, the platform uses attendees’ own smartwatches or fitness trackers to measure changes in attendees’ heart rates. The data collected helps assess their emotional engagement (called neural immersion). By analyzing this information, event organizers can understand at any time which parts of an event are most impactful.
- Zenas Artificial Intelligence: This facial analysis tool anonymously analyzes attendees’ expressions and energy levels during events. The system provides an overall energy score, as well as insights into how different demographics, such as gender and age groups, interact with content. All data is collected in an ethical manner, ensuring complete anonymity of attendees.
A real world example
During Bishop-McCann’s annual sideline event, BMC4MIn Cancun, Mexico, the Happiness Index is used to track attendee engagement. Selected participants wear smartwatches that provide real-time data on their engagement and safety, which is measured through the immersive platform. Zenus AI also captures facial analysis during key meetings, providing insights into audience energy and reactions.
“By combining these data sets, we were able to immediately identify key moments of highest engagement as well as areas for improvement while the event was in progress,” said Todd Moritz, Vice President of Event Technology at Bishop-McCann. “Video Reach Did the keynote deliver the results we expected? Did the keynote get the audience’s approval? The Joy Index provides a new perspective on the audience experience, unlocking a wealth of data and potential for planners to truly understand how to tailor events to keep audiences engaged and engaged. Pleasure.”
