Hero MotoCorp’s 100cc and 125cc models drive sales growth as the company prepares to launch a slew of large bikes
Hero MotoCorp, the country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has recorded a stunning growth in sales in October 2024. The company’s sales improved year-over-year, quarter-over-quarter and year-to-date, with its motorcycle lineup in particular posting strong growth. However, scooter sales have suffered some setbacks year-on-year and year-to-date, despite significant month-on-month improvements in models such as Splendor, Passion, Destini and Maestro.
Hero MotoCorp sales in October 2024 year-on-year and month-on-month
Hero sales increased to 6,79,091 units in October 2024, driven by strong demand in major cities and rural areas, especially during the festive season. This is an increase of 18.12% from the sales of 5,74,930 units in October 2023, which was 1,04,161 units. Growth per unit volume. The month-on-month sales volume increased by 6.60% from 6,37,050 units in September 2024.
Motorcycle sales were 6,35,787 units, a year-on-year increase of 20.11%. Over 5,29,341 units were sold in October 2023, accounting for 93.62% of the total sales. Motorcycle sales also registered a significant month-on-month growth of 6.60% from 6,37,050 units sold in September 2024.
On the other hand, scooter sales fell 5.01% year-on-year to 43,304 units in the past month, compared with 45,589 units sold in October 2023. However, compared with 39,521 units sold in September 2024, sales increased by 9.57% month-on-month. Sales also increased from 6.20% to 6.38% month-on-month.
Domestic sales in October 2024 increased by 17.44% year-on-year and 6.60% month-on-month to 6,57,403 vehicles. 5,59,766 units and 6,16,706 units were sold in October 2023 and September 2024 respectively. Exports also improved significantly last month, reaching 21,688 units. This is related to a year-on-year increase of 43.02% in shipments of 15,164 units in October 2023, while exports in September 2024 were 20,344 units.
Hero MotoCorp YTD Sales
Hero MotoCorp’s year-to-date (YTD) sales have also increased by 11.66%. The total sales volume increased to 37,33,931 units in FY25. Sales increased by 3,89,901 units from 33,44,030 units sold in FY24.
Motorcycle sales increased by 12.71% to 34,92,877 units from 30,99,029 units in FY24, representing an increase of 3,93,848 units. However, scooter sales fell by 1.61% with sales of 2,41,054 units in FY25 as compared to 2,45,001 units sold in the same period last year. Motorcycles and scooters accounted for 93.54% and 6.46% of total sales respectively.
Domestic sales and exports have both achieved double-digit growth so far this year, with increases of 11.02% and 31.81% respectively. During the period, a total of 35,98,069 units were sold in the domestic market and 1,35,862 units were exported. Hero MotoCorp is now looking forward to several upcoming products that will be showcased at the EICMA show starting next week. These are expected to be the new Karizma XMR 250, Xtreme 250R, Xpulse 210 and new variants of the Vida electric scooter.
