East Texas police have released dramatic body camera video showing an officer pulling an unconscious woman from a car that had sunk in a pond and saving her life.
The incident occurred on July 24 when Jonquetta Winbush was driving her two children in a Dodge Charger when she suffered a seizure. Her children managed to escape from the car and her young son flagged down local police officer Charles Cobb, who was monitoring traffic nearby.

In the video, her son can be heard pleading with officers to help his mother. “She’s having a seizure, she’s sinking!” he screams. “She’s in the water, help her.”
When Cobb arrived, he found Wimbush unconscious in a locked Charger. With the help of a good Samaritan at the scene, they broke a window and got the mother of two out of the car. Officers performed CPR on her, and after a few minutes, Wimbush regained a pulse and woke up.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and spent three weeks in the intensive care unit, according to the Associated Press. Fortunately, she is expected to make a full recovery.
Six days after the incident, the West Orange Police Department presented Officer Cobb with a Lifesaving Award for saving the mother.
“Officer Cobb’s quick response, recognition of the emergency, and immediate actions and effective lifesaving measures directly saved the life of Jonquita Wimbush,” the department said. “Failure to act could have resulted in tragic consequences.”
