Splendor and Deluxe motorcycles accounted for nearly 80% of total Hero sales in August 2024 – Mavrick 440 sales fell to 170 units
Hero MotoCorp’s domestic sales in August 2024 registered a modest year-on-year growth of 2.38%, with total sales of 4,91,367 units as compared to 4,79,929 units in August 2023. This increase was driven by significant declines in key models and other models.
Splendor and HF Deluxe: the backbone of hero sales
As usual, Hero Splendor leads the sales, accounting for 61.65% of the total sales in August 2024. With a growth rate of 4.49%, it remains the top choice for a majority of Hero’s customer base. Followed closely by HF Deluxe, which increased significantly by 15.89% compared with last year, and contributed 17.22% to the company’s sales. These two models remain the main driving forces of Hero’s domestic market.
The Xtreme 125R launched a few months ago and quickly shot up the charts. In August 2024, its sales volume was 27,668 units, ranking third, accounting for 5.63% of Hero’s total sales last month. At the same time, although Passion contributed 4.63% of sales, sales fell sharply by 40.16% year-on-year. “Glamour” also faced challenges, with a larger decline, reaching 48.84%, but still accounted for 3.27% of Hero’s total sales.
Scooter and electric models show mixed results
Hero Happy Scooter remained stable, with a slight year-on-year growth of 0.83%, showing continued focus on this market segment. However, sales of the Destini 125 fell by 15.49%, affecting its share, bringing its share of total sales to 2.04%. The drop in Destini sales could be due to the new version launching this month.
In comparison, Hero’s electric product Vida saw a staggering growth of 502.40%, indicating the growing interest among consumers in electric mobility solutions. This growth brings Vida’s share of total Hero sales in August 2024 to 1.23%. Sales of Hero Xoom scooters fell by 51.23%, reflecting weak demand in the category. Similarly, Xpulse 200 also experienced a sharp decline of 25.14% year-on-year, contributing only 0.60% to total sales. The Xtreme 160/200 models were also affected, with a sharp decline of 41.28%, indicating potential difficulties in the high-end motorcycle market. Karizma 210 and Mavrick 440 sales currently have a smaller share (0.05% and 0.03% respectively), while Maestro has 0 sales.
