When it comes to off-road bikes, the upcoming Hero Xpulse 210 will be the most affordable one and will come with more powerful touring capabilities

After a successful tie-up with adventure motorsports, Hero MotoCorp plans to offer some of that pedigree in its consumer products. The Hero Xpulse will get a major upgrade in its powertrain with a modern technology engine from the Karizma XMR. Spy shots of the Xpulse 210 test bike were spotted in Leh-Ladakh. Let’s take a look.

The upgraded version of this adventure tourer will feature technologically advanced powertrains from Hero MotoCorp. Thus expanding the capabilities of the Xpulse platform. Following the launch of the mid-term facelift last year, Hero is now offering a major powertrain upgrade to its beloved Xpulse 200.

Thanks to car enthusiast Chaitanya Helwatkar, who spotted several Xpulse 210 test bikes near Khardung La in Leh. These test bikes were accompanied by support vehicles. All these motorcycles were camouflaged to hide their identity. However, the outline of the Xpulse is unmistakable.

Similar to the previous spy photos, the design of the Xpulse 210 is almost unchanged. It will retain the same LED taillights, and the H-shaped LED headlights may also be retained. We can see some elements added around the fuel tank, which may be a fuel tank cover to improve aerodynamic efficiency and cruising ability.

What are the changes?

Although Hero MotoCorp has not made any official announcement regarding these developments, this upcoming Xpulse is powered by the engine of the Karizma XMR 210. This is a 210cc, DOHC 4V liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces a peak power of 25.15 bhp and a peak torque of 20.4 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

This is the most advanced powertrain ever built by Hero MotoCorp. On the Xpulse, it will greatly enhance touring capabilities thanks to the performance boost and the addition of a 6th gear. Refinement and daily drivability as well as off-road capabilities are likely to improve.

Other notable features expected to be added to the upcoming Hero Xpulse 210 include slip and assist clutch, dual-channel ABS, and a new TFT screen for instrumentation, similar to what we have seen on the Karizma XMR 210. The unit will support Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation with smartphone apps.

Is this the Xpulse 400?

The bike is most likely to be the Xpulse 400. More precisely, the Xpulse 440, which is based on the same platform as the Hero and Harley Mavrick 440 and X440. A larger Xpulse 440 has been spotted testing before. However, the recently spotted test bike is more likely to be the Xpulse 210.

The hardware setup of the Xpulse 210 is similar to the current Xpulse 200. We can also expect a Pro model with adjustable front and rear long-travel suspension and knobby Maxxis off-road tires. The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheel setup is also likely to remain. The price will increase slightly due to the high-tech powertrain.
