Honda Accord, HR-V seat belt premonitor reminds people of enough good

Federal investigators have paid close attention to the Honda protocol and the HR-V seat belt arches.

– Honda Agreement, Honda Accord Hybrid and Honda HR-V Seatbelt Pre-inspired recallers have caught the attention of federal safety regulators who want to know if the recall repair is good enough.

Honda released a recall in November 2023, which includes the 2023-2024 Honda Accord, the Honda Accord hybrid and the Honda HR-V vehicle.

Honda said the front seat belt premonitor assembly may have been made without rivets, which can secure the automatic connector and wire panels.

Without rivets, seatbelt hunchers will not restrict occupants in crashes.

Two front seatbelt hunches may be missing rivets in Honda HR-V vehicles, but drivers’ side premonitions are affected in Honda Accord and Accord hybrids.

According to the recall documents, the dealer was told to inspect and possibly replace the two front row pretensioner components. The National Highway Safety Administration has questions about the way Honda tests the seatbelt pretender to determine if it is missing rivets.

Dealers use pulling force gauge to determine if the seat belt premonitor needs to be replaced.

Obviously, the inspection works well, as the seat belt huncher is not inspected by the Honda dealer and therefore has no complaints or failures.

NHTSA has closed the Honda investigation but will monitor the vehicle for other issues.
