Honda is gearing up to enter the Indian electric scooter market with its first product, Activa e. Although the scooter has just been unveiled, it is expected to be launched next year. Its outstanding feature is the convenient replaceable battery system. Compared with the traditional ICE model, the electric Activa has a simpler design. When launched, it will directly compete with the Ather Rizta. If you’re considering buying an electric scooter for home use, here’s a quick comparison to help you decide.
Honda Activa e and Ather Rizta: Design
The electric Activa e breaks away from traditional design and has a stylish, simple appearance. The front fascia is dominated by stylish LED headlights flanked by turn signals. For added safety, LED DRLs are also available.
Ather Rizta adopts a utilitarian design approach, prioritizing practicality and comfort. Its boxy proportions and extended seat length make it a suitable choice for families. The addition of LED headlights and a stylish taillight bar enhance visibility and add a modern feel.
Honda Activa e vs Ather Rizta: Features
Both Activa e and Rizta are well-equipped machines in the e-scooter segment. The Activa e comes with a 7-inch TFT instrument panel that can be connected to the smartphone through the RoadSync Duo app. The infotainment system includes navigation support and automatic day and night mode adjustment to ensure optimal visibility at all times. The scooter also offers keyless operation via the H-Smart key system and comes with all LED lighting. It comes in a range of attractive color options: Pearl Serenity Blue, Pearl Light Blue, Pearl Mist White, Matte Mist Silver Metallic and Pearl Pyro Black. The Honda electric scooter comes with 12-inch alloy wheels. Braking-wise, it has front disc brakes and rear drum brakes.

The Rizta, on the other hand, features a 7-inch display (TFT on higher-spec versions) with connectivity and built-in navigation powered by Google Maps. It has generous storage capacity, including a 34-litre under-seat luggage compartment and a 22-litre trunk. The Ather scooter also comes with 12-inch alloy wheels, which are available in different single-tone and dual-tone colours.
Honda Activa e and Ather Rizta: Powertrain
Activa e is equipped with a direct-drive PMSM motor that produces 8bhp peak power and 22 Nm maximum torque. It comes with two 1.5kWh battery packs for a total capacity of 3kWh. As a result, the electric scooter accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h in just 7.3 seconds, and its top speed can reach 80 km/h. It promises an impressive range of 102 kilometers on a single charge. Additionally, the scooter comes with three different riding modes: Eco, Standard and Sport.
In comparison, the Ather Rizta has two battery options: 2.9kWh and 3.7kWh. The 2.9kWh battery has an IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 123 km. The 3.7kWh battery, on the other hand, offers a range of 159 kilometers on a single charge. However, under real-world conditions, the actual ranges are closer to 105 kilometers and 125 kilometers respectively. Both battery options are IP67 certified and are paired with a mid-drive motor that produces 5.76bhp and 22Nm of peak torque. The Rizta claims a top speed of 80 km/h, similar to the Activa e.
Honda Activa e vs Ather Rizta: Price
Ather Rizta is available in two models: S and Z. The S model comes with a 2.9kWh battery and is priced at Rs 1.12 lakh. The Z model can be had with a 2.9kWh or a larger 3.7kWh battery and is priced between Rs 1.27 lakh and Rs 1.47 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices.

Honda will announce the prices of Activa e on January 1, 2025. According to market reports, the scooter is likely to be priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.2 lakh.
