Honda recently launched the redesigned Amaze in India, which mimics its City sibling in many aspects. If you’re undecided between these two sedans, here’s a quick comparison to highlight their similarities and differences. In terms of pricing, the City is positioned higher at Rs 11.82 lakh to Rs 16.35 lakh. However, the Amaze is more affordable with prices starting at Rs 8 lakh and going up to Rs 10.90 lakh (introductory price).

Honda Amaze vs Honda City: Differences and Similarities

The Amaze stands out with its bold and wide grille inspired by the Honda Accord. In comparison, the City’s grille is more elegant and streamlined. While the Amaze’s headlights borrow design cues from the City, its LED DRLs are more in line with the headlights on the Honda Elevate, giving it a uniquely modern feel.

From the side, the redesigned Amaze looks like a more compact version of the City. The latter’s longer length (over 4 meters) makes it appear more stable and aerodynamic, thereby enhancing its overall refinement and road stance. Both cars ride on the same multi-spoke two-tone alloys but differ in size. For reference, the Amaze comes with 15-inch wheels, while the City comes with larger 16-inch wheels but with different designs.

Both models feature stylish chrome door handles and body-coated exterior mirrors with built-in turn signals. After the recent update, Amaze also gained a LaneWatch camera, located under the ORVM on the left side. This feature is already available in city cars. The rear end of the Amaze is similar to that of the Honda City, with its shark fin antenna and wraparound LED taillights. However, the bumper has a more unique look.

While both sedans feature black and beige interiors, the dashboard design differs. The Amaze has a more modern look as it has a floating 8-inch touchscreen and rectangular AC vents. In contrast, the City has a touchscreen unit built into the dashboard. It also has vertically oriented AC vents.

The Amaze comes equipped with PM2.5 in-cabin air filter, wireless mobile phone charger, 7-inch semi-digital driver display (also available in City) and remote engine start/stop. The City, on the other hand, gets an 8-inch touchscreen, ambient lighting and a single-pane power sunroof. Surprisingly missed single pane skylight. However, both cars come with amenities like advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), a rearview camera and six airbags (standard).

The most significant difference is the powertrain. The Amaze is powered by a smaller 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, while the City comes with a larger 1.5-litre 4-cylinder N/A petrol engine. The Amaze produces 89bhp and 110Nm, while the City offers a more powerful 119bhp and 145Nm.
