Honda hangs 3 passports in the air, proving to be crazy 14,000 pounds

  • Honda tested the passport’s recovery point by lifting three SUVs into the air.
  • During the stunt period, the recovery point of the first passport accounts for 14,000 pounds.
  • Power comes from the 2026 model’s 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 engine.

Both the Honda Passport Trailsport and the Trailsport Elite are equipped with heavy duty front recovery points. Desire to prove how solid these hooks are, Honda walked into the desert, picked up the crane, and pulled three passports into the air-connecting each other.

Honda said the front recovery point on the passport is designed to support twice the weight of the SUV, but even so, the company obviously has a lot of confidence to get rid of this stunt. The front of the top passport is hung on the crane, the second passport is hung on the Class III trailer hook of the first vehicle, and the third passport is also tied to the trailer of the second vehicle. Honda said the hook on the first passport holds more than 14,000 pounds.

These recovery points are made of cast iron and although they can withstand weight, they are designed to break away in a crash. Fortunately for this stunt, they remained solid and prevented three passports from rolling toward the ground, which wasn’t a great look for Honda.

In addition to making these front recovery points as standard, the Honda passport comes with a trailer hook with a 7-pin connector and two additional recovery points.

Honda lifted the veil on its new passport late last year and has been enthusiastically promoting it as a capable off-road vehicle. In the Trailsport Guise, it comes with powerful skateboards and general Grabber all-terrain tires. Honda also raised its ride height and considered off-road. There is also an off-road camera system and a specially tuned AWD system.

The only engine offered by the 2026 passport is the 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6. It offers 285 hp and 262 lb-ft (355 nm) of torque while paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
