Owners of affected motorcycles will be contacted individually with information about the recall and next steps.
As part of its commitment to improving customer experience, Honda has issued a voluntary recall for some 300cc and 350cc motorcycles. Owners of affected motorcycles will be contacted via phone, email and text message, and users can also enter the vehicle identification number on the Honda BigWing website to check.
Front and rear wheel speed sensors
This issue affects Honda CB300R, CB300F, CB350, CB350RS and H’ness 350. An investigation found that an improper molding process was used in the manufacturing of the speed wheel sensor. The issue exists in motorcycles manufactured between October 2020 and April 2024. However, Honda has not provided any details on the total number of motorcycles with this issue.
Due to an improper molding process, the wheel speed sensor may come into contact with water. When this happens, the speed sensor may begin to malfunction. This may affect multiple systems such as traction control, speedometer and ABS. Honda also explicitly mentions the worst-case scenario, where a faulty speed sensor may cause the brakes to be ineffective. Since both the front and rear wheel speed sensors are affected, this poses a significant risk in extreme cases.
While Honda has not asked customers to stop using the affected vehicles, it recommends that owners maintain them properly. Owners can wait for news from Honda or check on the Honda BigWing website using their VIN number. Honda has asked owners of affected vehicles to schedule service appointments in advance. This will help avoid overcrowding at dealerships.
The affected parts will be replaced completely free of charge, irrespective of the warranty status of the motorcycle. The recall will be carried out at BigWing dealerships across India. However, Honda has not yet revealed the estimated time for replacement of the affected parts.
Camshaft assembly
This issue affects specific units of the CB350, CB350RS and H’ness CB350. Investigation revealed that improper manufacturing processes were used in the manufacture of the camshaft. This could result in the vehicle’s optimal functionality being affected. Honda says the recall is being conducted as a precautionary measure. The recall applies to units manufactured between June 2024 and July 2024.
Honda dealers across India will replace the affected parts free of charge. This recall applies even to motorcycles that have already passed their warranty period. Honda will contact owners of the affected vehicles through calls, SMS and/or emails.
Honda also recalled the CB350 and CB350RS in December last year. At that time, problems were found with the brake lights and the lean angle sensor. All affected customers had their parts replaced free of charge.
