Honda’s domestic sales of two-wheelers increased by double digits to 5.53 lakh units, with the best-selling Activa accounting for 48% share
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) reported strong sales growth in October 2024. The company sold 5,53,120 units in the month, a year-on-year increase of 19.53% from the 4,62,747 units sold in the same month last year. Compared to 5,36,391 units sold in September 2024, this represents a slight month-on-month growth of 3.12%. A healthy lineup of 16 models across various segments has enabled the company to maintain a good position.
Honda 2W domestic sales in October 2024
In October 2024, Honda Activa once again became the highest-selling model in the company’s lineup. Sales volume was 2,66,806 units, a year-on-year increase of 21.91% from 2,18,856 units in October 2023. This was related to a sales increase of 47,950 units. Activa scooters occupy 48.24% share in this list. Activa sales also improved, albeit slightly sequentially, up 1.71% from September 2024 when 2,62,316 units were sold. With the launch of the new Honda Activa electric car, sales will further increase in the coming months.
Honda Shine 125+SP125 also showed positive sales growth last month. Sales volume increased by 20.22% year-on-year and 3.25% month-on-month to 1,58,471 units. This is much higher than the 1,31,816 units sold in October 2023 and 1,54,476 units in September 2024. Demand for the Shine 100 was also high, with sales of 37,817 units, a double-digit year-on-year and month-on-month growth of 19.03% and 33.35% respectively.
Honda Dio’s sales increased by 2.45% year-on-year to 33,179 units, while compared with September 2024 sales of 35,370 units, its month-on-month sales fell by 6.19%. Honda Unicorn ranked 10th on the list of best-selling motorcycles in India in October 2024 and ranked 5th on this list with sales of 31,768 units. It also showed a month-on-month growth of 1.32% from 31,353 units sold in September 2024.
Sales of Honda Dream (8,511 units), SP160 (5,274 units), Livo (3,774 units) and Hness (2,771 units) decreased year-on-year. Among them, the month-on-month sales of SP160 and Livo also experienced a significant decline. On the other hand, Hness sales rebounded, growing 35.30% month-on-month.
Honda CB sales in October 2024
Honda CB350 sold 1,838 units last month, with demand increasing 47.99% month-on-month from the 1,242 units sold in September 2024. Hornet 2.0 sales dropped to 1,259 units, a year-on-year decrease of 65.51% and a month-on-month decrease of 27.97%. The CB series also includes the CB200X, CB300 and CB500. CB200X sales dropped to 987 units, a year-on-year decrease of 45.47% and a month-on-month improvement of 11.15%.
CB300 sales increased 17.47% year-on-year to 511 units, a significant month-on-month increase of 546.84%. CB500 sold 133 units last month, a month-on-month increase of 923.08% from only 13 units sold in September 2024. In the 500cc series, the company is also developing the new GB500 in the mid-size motorcycle segment. It plans to launch it in Europe and plans to bring the bike to the Indian market sometime in 2026.
Honda also has the XL750 and GL1800 in its product portfolio, with 18 and 3 units sold respectively in October 2024. XL750 dropped 57.14% month-on-month. However, Honda Gold Wing GL1800 sales dropped 62.50% year-on-year from 8 units in October 2023, but increased 200% month-on-month from September 2024 when only 1 unit was sold.
