Meetings and events benefit greatly from a venue that has something special about it, whether it’s a stunning backdrop, a delicious culinary experience or a memorable team-building activity. In California, two companies are known for their location and products: The Oasis at Death Valley and Greenhorn Ranch in Quincy.
Located in Death Valley National Park, the largest national park in the lower 48 and known for its desert landscape and record-breaking summer temperatures, Death Valley Oasis offers guests a respite from the dryness and heat. The resort includes two hotels, lush gardens, spring-fed outdoor pools, the world’s lowest elevation golf course, multiple meeting spaces, and unparalleled stargazing opportunities as the park is designated by the International Dark Sky Association as the largest Dark Sky Certified national park Sky Association. The Death Valley Inn, one of the hotel’s two lodging options, was originally built in 1927 and today has 66 guest rooms and 22 private cabins. Death Valley Ranch has 195 guest rooms and 80 one-bedroom cabins.
The largest gathering space at Death Valley Oasis is Mission Gardens, which measures 12,675 square feet and can accommodate up to 280 theater-style attendees. Other meeting spaces include the Gold Rush Room, Stargazer’s Terrace, Big Horn Room, and more.
Located north of Quincy and northwest of Lake Tahoe, Greenhorn Ranch dates back to 1962 and covers 608 acres surrounded by mountains and forests. Its operating season is from May to October, during which time visitors can stay in one of the 16 rustic cabins or in the 12 rooms of the main hotel. Groups can take advantage of its indoor event space options, which include the Salon and Bar Deck for up to 120 people, the Cabana for up to 50 people, the Chuck House and Patio for up to 70 people, or the Tac Room for up to 15 people and patio outdoor gathering spaces include an open lawn, fire pit, tranquil trout pond, and more.
Most notably, event planners should consider adding any of the ranch’s top-notch activities to the agenda, including horseback riding, fly fishing, hiking, electric mountain biking, archery, and more.
