- A hot Toyota GR Corolla has been spotted testing at the Nürburgring.
- The prototype features a large rear wing and a series of new and enlarged vents.
- The production model will likely have a wider track and upgraded powertrains.
Spy photographers recently caught a mysterious GR Corolla prototype undergoing testing in Europe. While its front end is camouflaged, the only noticeable change is the lack of sensors.
Without too many clues, we’d guess the car is an early prototype for either a facelift or a new special edition model, and now it looks like the latter, as spy photographers have snapped a cooler hatchback on the Nürburgring.

While the changes aren’t dramatic, the model appears to have a unique vented hood that’s covered by camouflage. The camouflage makes it hard to be sure, but the new vents above the front fenders are unmistakable. They’re joined by larger side vents that have two horizontal bars instead of the seven on the regular model.
Speaking of the fenders, they appear to be wider than usual, suggesting the production model may get an increased wheelbase. Regardless, the prototype rides on lightweight wheels and is equipped with a high-performance brake system with red calipers.

We can also see a black (likely carbon fiber) roof, as well as a rather large rear wing. The latter is reminiscent of the GR Corolla Circuit Edition, but the spy photographers suggest it could be even larger than the one used on that car.
Little else is known about the model, but it is tentatively named the GRMN Corolla. While only time will tell what the prototypes actually are, the 2025 GR Corolla is equipped with an upgraded turbocharged 1.6-liter engine that produces 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. This is an increase of 22 lb-ft (30 Nm), and the three-cylinder engine can be paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission as well as the familiar six-speed manual transmission.
