What makes the conference and event industry unique?

The conference and event industries are known for their substantial economic impact and their sensitivity to global events. Major world events always affect our sector, emphasizing the key role of tourism on the international stage.

What does GMID mean to you?

GMID is our chance to share our stories. The hotel and tourism industry help drive the global economy. While the mantra of “conference means business”, “conference means money” is also true.

Our contribution to the urban economy – huge transportation, accommodation, dining and retail industries. Nevertheless, our industry often lacks the recognition it deserves. GMID is a critical moment in advocating our rights, especially among the challenges we face under new government policies.

What are you doing to celebrate?

I plan to participate in my city’s local GMID event, join industry colleagues and partners to discuss current challenges and explore potential solutions together.

How do you view the industry development in the next few years? What are you most excited about?

I expect meetings and events to become increasingly experienced, beyond traditional venues such as hotels and conference centers. Travel allows attendees to immerse themselves in the local culture and community, and we can provide a comprehensive conference experience that truly embodies the nature of the destination.

I am most excited about attendees’ deeper connections with the city’s communities and culture. This personal engagement allows them to see the tangible differences that they have brought about in the lives of local residents.
