Luxeed, a joint venture between Huawei and Chery, has unveiled a 2025 refresh of its S7 electric sedan, a year after its launch. The updated electric car brings fresh colors and lower prices, aiming to attract buyers who might otherwise flock to Tesla’s Model 3.

The Luxeed S7 was initially launched in November 2023, but got off to a slow start due to supply issues. However, after reintroducing the electric sedan to the Chinese market in April 2024 with some minor tweaks, the 2025 MY version is now available, aiming to boost customer demand and make a more significant splash in the highly competitive EV market. Influence.

The 4,971 mm (195.7 inches) S7 is the first model to showcase the group’s HIMA styling language, which has since been applied to other Huawei-backed models such as the Stelato S9 sedan, Aito M9 SUV and Luxeed R7 coupe SUV.

While the 2025 MY’s exterior remains unchanged, new color options – Phantom Purple, Blue Wave, Urban Red and Sunshine Blue – make the S7 even more unique on the road. It looks like the Luxeed S7 Ultra performance flagship also borrows some styling cues from the Tesla Model 3 Performance, with black 21-inch wheels, red Brembo brake calipers, and discreet aerodynamic add-ons.

Interior upgrades and technology

Inside, the 2025 S7 carries over most features from the 2024 model, but gets some notable updates to its standard equipment. The 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and 15.6-inch touch screen run Huawei HarmonyOS 4 software. The front seats feature zero-gravity technology, while the rear seats offer heating and ventilation.

Luxeed also adds dual wireless charging pads and a 17-speaker sound system to enhance the luxurious feel of the cabin. In addition, Huawei’s ADS 2.0 system brings semi-autonomous driving functions and remote parking functions, using a series of sensors to assist the driver.

Powertrain and chassis

The Luxeed S7 rides on the E0X architecture, which is shared with the Luxeed R7 coupe SUV, Exeed Sterra ES sedan and ET SUV. The platform is expected to underpin the new Freelander electric vehicle, which will be launched in China as part of a joint venture between Jaguar Land Rover and Chery.

The sedan is available with a rear electric motor producing 288 hp (215 kW / 292 hp), or dual electric motors producing a total of 489 hp (365 kW / 496 hp). CATL produces battery packs with capacities of 82 kWh or 100 kWh, the latter offering a CLTC range of up to 855 km (531 miles) in the RWD version.

Cheaper than Tesla Model 3

The most important news for 2025 is the price reduction of the Luxeed S7, which ranges from 10,000 yen to 30,000 yen ($1,400 to $4,100) depending on the trim. Now, the updated model is slightly less expensive than its main rival, the Tesla Model 3, but it’s worth noting that Tesla may be able to sell more cars with the updated model before you can say, “Elon tweeted again.” Multiple discounts to counter this move. .
