OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Mahindra & Mahindra are gearing up to launch new mid-size electric SUVs early this year. Mahindra has launched its first all-electric SUVs – the BE 6 and XUV 9e – and announced the prices of its entry-level Pack 1 versions. The complete price list of both the models will be announced at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Creta Electric will go on sale from January 17 at the Auto Expo and the Maruti e-Vitara will reach showrooms in March 2025.

Hyundai Creta Electric VS Mahindra BE 6 VS Maruti e Vitara – Battery and range
That’s what these EV powertrains are all about, so let’s get right to the point. The electric Creta comes with 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery options with ARAI claimed range of 390 km and 473 km respectively. The long-range version of the SUV is said to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds. The Creta EV offers three driving modes: Eco, Normal and Sport.
The Pack 1 variant of the Mahindra BE 6 electric SUV is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It comes with two batteries – 59kWh and 79kWh, both using LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry. The 59kWh version has a single electric motor with a maximum power output of 228bhp, while the 79kWh battery version also has a single electric motor with a maximum power output of 281bhp. Both setups feature a RWD (rear-wheel drive) system that produces a maximum torque of 380Nm. Mahindra’s born electric SUV It comes with three driving modes – Range, Daily and Race – as well as an additional acceleration mode. Mahindra claims that the BE 6 with 59kWh and 79kWh batteries promises ARAI claimed range of 556 km and 682 km respectively.
The Maruti e-Vitara is available in two battery options – 49kWh and 61kWh – and comes with a single-motor setup as standard. Its power outputs are 144bhp (189Nm) and 174bhp (189Nm) respectively. The larger 61kWh battery also comes with a dual-motor AWD (also known as AllGrip-e) setup, delivering a maximum power output of 184bhp and 300Nm of torque. The carmaker has not yet revealed range figures for the e-Vitara, but it is expected to have a range of around 500 kilometers.
Hyundai Creta Electric VS Mahindra BE 6 VS Maruti e-Vitara – Charging time
Hyundai says charging the electric Creta from 10 to 80 per cent via a DC fast charger takes 58 minutes and a full charge via an 11kW AC wallbox charger takes four hours.
Mahindra’s pure electric SUV supports 175kW DC fast charger as well as 11.2kW and 7.3kW AC chargers. With a quick charger, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. The 11.2kW AC charger can fully charge the battery in 8 hours (79kWh) or 6 hours (59kWh), while the 7.3kW AC charger takes 11.7 hours (79kWh) or 8.7 hours (59kWh).
Maruti Suzuki is yet to reveal the charging capabilities and charging time of the e-Vitara SUV.
Hyundai Creta Electric VS Mahindra BE 6 VS Maruti e-Vitara – Features
The Creta Electric gets a new floating center console and steering wheel, while the dual 10.25-inch screen setup carries over from the regular Creta. The automaker has confirmed that the electric car comes with vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, modern digital key and ADAS suite. The rest of its feature set will be largely similar to ICE.
Mahindra BE 6 is the most feature-packed electric car in its class. The automaker has equipped the electric SUV with dual 12.3-inch floating screens running MAIA software with more than 30 apps pre-installed. It is the first car of its kind to feature an augmented reality HUD (heads-up display). Other features include new two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, 5G connectivity with built-in WiFi, Dolby Atmos 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ambient lighting, power driver’s seat with memory, OTA updates, 7 Airbags, Level 2 ADAS package, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, panoramic sunroof with integrated multi-color lighting pattern, laminated glass and many more premium features.
