Hyundai Creta Electric will implement vehicle-to-load (V2L), Level 2

Ahead of its launch on January 17, 2025, Hyundai has revealed some key specifications of the electric Creta, sparking excitement among car enthusiasts. The electric Creta will come with dual-zone climate control, a new three-spoke steering wheel and cutting-edge V2L (vehicle loading) technology. It will also include a digital key feature that allows seamless access to the vehicle using a smartphone or smartwatch. The SUV will feature an innovative i-pedal that enables the driver to use the accelerator pedal alone to accelerate, decelerate or even stop the car completely. Additionally, the car benefits from shift-by-wire technology that will provide smooth, futuristic gear changes.

On the safety front, the electric Creta comes with an extensive Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite that includes essential features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane keep assist and blind spot monitoring. It also comes with six airbags (standard), a 360-degree camera, a tire pressure monitoring system and front and rear parking sensors.

Hyundai Creta Electric: Battery and charging

Hyundai has revealed that the electric Creta will be available in two battery options: 42kWh (range 390 km) and 51.4kWh (range 473 km). Now, what’s even more exciting is that the company has revealed performance figures for each model. The 42kWh battery will be paired with a 133bhp front axle-mounted electric motor, while the 51.4kWh version will have a more powerful 167bhp electric motor, more powerful than the Creta N Line (158bhp). The long-range version has a thrilling 0-100km/h acceleration time of 7.9 seconds.

The Creta Electric comes with an 11kW AC charger that can fully charge the larger 51.4kWh battery in just 4 hours. It also comes with a DC fast charger that can charge the SUV from 10% to 80% in just 58 minutes. The myHyundai app adds convenience by allowing users to remotely control the charging process, including options to start, stop or schedule charging sessions.

Hyundai Creta Electric: Exterior and Interiors

From a design perspective, the electric Creta is similar to its ICE counterpart, but with some notable differences. These include an EV-specific pixelated pattern grille and a front bumper with active air flaps to improve aerodynamics and cooling efficiency. The electric Creta also includes a charging port, cleverly integrated into the grille, displaying the Hyundai badge, black roof, pillars and ORVMs. The electric Creta comes with aerodynamically designed 17-inch alloy wheels and is available in 8 solid colors, including 5 metallic and 3 matte colours.

Inside, the electric Creta gets an updated center console and a new three-spoke steering wheel, along with a host of new convenience features. One standout new feature is the in-car payment feature, which allows drivers to pay for vehicle charging directly from the infotainment screen. Other features include dual 10.25-inch displays including a digital driver display and touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats and an 8-speaker Bose sound system.
